A warm welcome awaits at The Ambleside Tap Yard

Situated in Ambleside’s old mill yard adjacent to the historic Bridge House, we specialise in serving pasteurised brewery-fresh craft beers served direct from six large copper tanks displayed above the bar, plus a range of other local, national and international beer offerings. We have drinks to quench everyone’s thirst.

The extensive bar selection is complemented by quality wood-fired hand-stretched pizzas, gourmet burgers & sharing delicatessen boards made using only the finest freshest locally sourced ingredients.

We’re lucky enough to be positioned close to several popular Lake District walking routes, making us the perfect place to fuel up before a hike or to rest up after a hard day trekking in the fells. We welcome dogs into our bar area and have bowls outside where they can enjoy a refreshing drink.

At the Tap Yard we are extremely passionate about our beer and it is our mission to champion the very best of craft ales.

Our offering will have a strong Cumbrian focus and will constantly change, giving local brewers the opportunity to showcase the best of Cumbria.

We believe everyone deserves to experience beer at its best, as if it were drunk in the brewery itself and our innovative relationship with our brewing partners allows us to achieve exactly this.

Our beer is collected directly from the brewery where it is transferred from the brewer’s conditioning tanks, into 500 litre vats for transportation, transported to the tap yard and then pumped into our 6 copper tanks – each capable of holding 880 pints.

Throughout this process the beer never comes into contact with the air…..in fact the first time it does is when it hits your glass!

 Verified Pizza Perfection Having spent two in Italy last summer we wondered whether the pizzas at the Tap Yard would be up to scratch. We need not have worried. Perfectly cooked in a wood-fired oven with plenty of toppings and taste. Dog-friendly restaurant with great staff, food and drinks. It has a quirky industrial decor showing off the micro-brewery tanks and pipes

 Verified Perfect for Beer and a Burger After a day walking - this was perfect. Good beer, a great burger / pizza and nice atnosphere. Wish we'd found it on the first night. Although, it may be worth updating the digital screens inside to reflect the beers currently on offer. Great service and food was there in no time.

 Verified Pretty good pit stop Only popped in for a drink and were warmly welcomed and directed to a nice cosy table. The food looked good, especially the pizzas. As are most restaurants in Ambleside, it’s very dog friendly and we were lucky to be surrounded by two very well behaved dogs. Well worth a visit. Highly recommended.

 Verified Always great. Great service amazing food I go here for some lunch on Thursdays on my uni break. I wait at the stand, I'm seated quickly and given a menu. The staff are always friendly. I've tried a few of thier burgers and pizza. The margherita pizza was lovely and cheesy and the burgers are incredible, thier bursting with flavour, juicy and served with crispy coated yet fluffy fries. I only ever have 45 mins to get sat, eat and pay my bill and the service is quick and attentive to allow me to do so. I'd highly reccomend if your looking to get in a quick meal that tastes great and fills you up.

 Verified Contemporary vibe, indoor and outdoor tables. Massive portions, prompt service, decent menu range, food cooked well, a great range of draft beers, wines and spirits. Booking is def advised although we walked in and managed to bag a table. We had burgers which were massive and accompanied with fries and stupidly ordered a garlic bread which was huge.

 Verified Outstanding Outstanding place, amazing service and good atmosphere. We ordered 2 wood fire pizza’s and the quality was outstanding, so fresh and well worth its high price. I really don’t mind paying £14 for one pizza when it’s up to that standard. All the staff friendly and great at their job. Definitely return again when we visit the Lake District!
