A warm welcome awaits at The Ambleside Tap Yard

Situated in Ambleside’s old mill yard adjacent to the historic Bridge House, we specialise in serving pasteurised brewery-fresh craft beers served direct from six large copper tanks displayed above the bar, plus a range of other local, national and international beer offerings. We have drinks to quench everyone’s thirst.

The extensive bar selection is complemented by quality wood-fired hand-stretched pizzas, gourmet burgers & sharing delicatessen boards made using only the finest freshest locally sourced ingredients.

We’re lucky enough to be positioned close to several popular Lake District walking routes, making us the perfect place to fuel up before a hike or to rest up after a hard day trekking in the fells. We welcome dogs into our bar area and have bowls outside where they can enjoy a refreshing drink.

At the Tap Yard we are extremely passionate about our beer and it is our mission to champion the very best of craft ales.

Our offering will have a strong Cumbrian focus and will constantly change, giving local brewers the opportunity to showcase the best of Cumbria.

We believe everyone deserves to experience beer at its best, as if it were drunk in the brewery itself and our innovative relationship with our brewing partners allows us to achieve exactly this.

Our beer is collected directly from the brewery where it is transferred from the brewer’s conditioning tanks, into 500 litre vats for transportation, transported to the tap yard and then pumped into our 6 copper tanks – each capable of holding 880 pints.

Throughout this process the beer never comes into contact with the air…..in fact the first time it does is when it hits your glass!

Best pizza I have eaten in my entire life As a result of our unbelievable meal in the summer, called in again today and had an even better experience, which I thought was not physically possible. It was really busy, in a good way, the two lovely ladies running front of house made it all look so effortless. All the busy servers were absolutely on their game. Brilliant pizza and drinks.

Phenomenal pizzas... We stopped for a bite here during out stay in the area and opted for the wood-fired pizzas. Wow, were we glad we did! The pizzas are some of the best we have ever tasted. A healthy size with delicious tomato sauce and generous toppings. Wood-fired taste and perfectly cooked. There is an informal atmosphere in the pub and dogs are welcome. Beers also great with lots of choice -including some lovely cask ales.

Great value First visit to the Tap Yard and won’t be the last. There was a warm and welcoming atmosphere and the service was good. We ordered of the special deal menu and went for a chicken burger and cheese burger, both of which were tasty and we thoroughly enjoyed them we would recommend trying this place out.

Yum! We visited tonight as a family with my parents, my two babies, my brother and his baby. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. We had pizzas and burgers and everything was cooked perfectly, hot and tasty. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Ambleside.
